Sneak Peeks.

As promised, here are a couple sneak peeks of the guest room. We’ve gotten all the basics in, now it’s all about the accessories!

You’ve seen this view before, but now you can catch a glimpse of the rug I bought on sale from Overstock.com. I love the boldness of the pattern mixed with such a neutral color. And at $90, you can’t beat the price! The bedding you see rolled up on the dresser is just waiting to be washed and draped across the bottom of the bed.

I was planning on making a large wood framed mirror to go above the dresser, but when I spotted this version in Homegoods yesterday for $29.99, I snatched it up. It’s unusual, rich in color and will add great texture to the space. I haven’t tried it out in the room yet so there’s always a chance I’ll go back to plan A, but fingers crossed it works!

While out and about, I also found a great clearance section at Lowe’s. I’ve been wanting to add a couple nice lanterns to the table on our deck and lo and behold, Lowe’s had just what I needed. I scored two lanterns, one big and one small, for around $15 total. The tag said each lantern was regularly $36. Um, yes. Yes, please.

I also have had my eye on this light fixture (below) for quite a while. At $50 it wasn’t too much of a budget buster, but Lowe’s had it marked down to $25. Done. This baby is getting tucked away for a bathroom project down the road. Oh, and did I mention I used an extra $10 off coupon on the whole Lowe’s purchase? Thrifty.

There you have it, my shopping cart in a glance. What about you guys? Find any great deals floating around out there?

I Love What I Do.

I’ve pretty much always wanted to do interior design. When I was a kid, maybe 9 years old, I remember drawing floorplans for my parents to add an addition on to their house. I loved doodling furniture layouts and sketching out new designs for rooms. Some kids scribbled love notes or animals, I had furniture and window treatments.

One time, a couple years later, my parents went out for dinner and I enlisted the help of my 8 year old brother to rearrange the living room. We moved a piano, a huge entertainment center, sofas, tables, etc. My parents came home minutes after we finished and nearly passed out. After making sure I knew to never do that home alone again, my mom admitted that she loved the new layout. Ever since then, I’ve been inspired to create spaces that people will love.

My favorite part of design is that I get to embrace so many different styles and patterns. My husband always teases me that I can design a room for someone else in heartbeat, but am very slow to move in designing our own home. It’s because I truly love so many different styles. I believe each style reflects a different part of my personality and with my clients, I get to explore those more.

Design is more than just how a room looks. It’s about how it makes you feel. I believe everyone deserves a space that allows them to feel comfortable being just who they are. Nothing less, nothing more.

All that’s to say that I really love what I do. I get to be creative everyday and help make someone’s home a happier place to be.

What more could I ask for?

Designer Discount Website.

Hope you all have been having a wonderful week! It’s been busy over here which means lots of fun projects to share in the weeks to come. Today, I want to share with you one of my favorite designer discount sites, Joss & Main!

If you’re over the Groupon/Eversave/Million Deal Emails A Week phase (yep, me too), then you’ll love this site. It doesn’t offer discounted teeth whitening or car washes (thank goodness!). It’s just pretty things you’d love to have in your home. Basically, heaven.

Here’s a peek at one of their sales…

You can really find items to fit a variety of price points, from the inexpensive all the way to “holy cow who could afford a $999 lamp”. If you’re interested in signing up, just click the link below! Happy Shopping!

Evidently I’m loving stripes. And word art associated with my husband.

Clearly all the important things.

Winner, Winner, Chicken Dinner.

Well, not so much a chicken dinner, but they did win a gift-card to TJ Maxx!

Congrats to Meghan McFarlin who said,

“I would use it to help pay for a rug in JoJo’s nursery!”

You’ll have to let me know what you find!

And speaking of finds, I’ve been looking for an old ladder for the past few months. I want to do something similar to { this } in our guestroom, but every time I found a ladder it was actually pretty expensive (at least $30). Yesterday I snagged one at an estate sale for $10! Cue excitement.

Our guestroom technically doesn’t even have a bed, BUT it does have an awesome old ladder and cute bedding. Baby steps, my friends.

What about you guys–any fun buys this weekend?

Fabric Jackpot.

Yesterday on Twitter I mentioned that I hit the jackpot at a new-to-me fabric store. I didn’t just hit the jackpot, I nailed it.

This store is my new favorite secret place. Like a secret garden, but with fabric for $2/yd.

My own little paradise.

I may have come home with just a few fabrics…

I’ve seen most of these fabrics in stores for $10-20 so even Justin was impressed with my $2/yd purchases. I mean when a guy is impressed, I know I did well. Some of the fabrics will be used in our house, and some are for a fun project down the road.

Almost as much fun as getting great fabrics for cheap is having a secret store to throw into conversation. Poor Justin has no idea just how much this is going to come up in our conversations. I almost feel bad for him.

Justin: “Do you want eggs for dinner?”

Me: “Umm, secret store?”

Justin: “I married an idiot.”

Me: “Duh.”

What about you guys, have you ever found a hidden gem in your city that you wanted to keep to yourself?

P.S. There’s still time to enter the giveaway! I’ll announce the winner on Monday!

Finders Keepers: Outdoor Furniture.

Since Spring is right around the corner, it seems every store had moved outdoor furniture and gardening supplies front and center. In the past patio furniture was pretty basic, a few metal chairs and a glass table. Maybe a couple plain throw pillows thrown in for good measure.

Not anymore!

I’m loving all the warm woods and bright patterns I’m seeing this year for outdoor furniture. A couple days ago I was in Lowe’s (a slight obsession as of late), and snapped a few pics of my favorite finds.

First up, this table below. I bet if I didn’t tell you, you would have assumed it was a normal dining room table. Isn’t it pretty? This would be an easy way to add class to any outdoor space.

And forget boring pillows. Lowe’s, Target, Home Depot…they all have great colors and patterns to pick from. Here’s a few I found at Lowe’s.

And lastly, I loved these barrels. As in, we’ll probably buy a few in the coming weeks. They’re the perfect pot to plant an herb garden. These barrels will pay for themselves after a few weeks of using fresh herbs instead of having to buy them. That’s one of my number one tip for saving money in the kitchen- grow your own herbs. You’ll have flavorful food without the $2+ price tag each week at the store.

All these finds have me excited about starting to furnish our own deck and patio. Luckily for you guys, you can still enter to win a $25 gift-card to jump start your Spring redesign!

For all the details go { here } or to my Facebook page { here }. If you’ve already entered, remember that when someone “Likes” your comment, they also need to “Like” the page.

The giveaway is open until the end of next week so there’s still lots of time to enter. Happy “Liking”!

How About $25? {A Giveaway!} {CLOSED}

It’s Wednesday. That day in the week where you realize one of two things, either your week has flown by and you can’t believe it’s the middle of the week, or the more popular it’s going so slow Friday seems like it’ll never get here.

This week I fall into the “holy cow I can’t believe it’s already Wednesday” camp. I mean where did this week go?

If you’re the opposite and it feels like Friday will never get here, I have a fun little treat to help you get through today…a giveaway!

With Spring just around the corner it’s the perfect time to give your home a fresh, new look. Since TJ Maxx is one of my all-time favorite places to shop, I’m giving away a $25 gift-card to jump start your new design! Here’s how you enter.

(1) Like Something Like That Designs on Facebook { here }

(2) Comment on Facebook under the Giveaway post by telling me what you would use the $25 gift-card to buy. A new throw pillow? A mirror? Decisions, decisions!

(3) Spread the word. Use Facebook/Twitter/Email/etc. to get your friends to “Like” Something Like That Designs on Facebook and then “Like” your comment on Facebook. The comment that has the most “Likes” wins the gift-card!

Even if you enter yourself, you can still vote for other people so give the old “you vote for me, I vote for you” method a try. Or bribe a couple friends to vote for you. Alls fair in love and gift-cards.

The giveaway is open until Sunday, March 25, 2012 at 12:00am EST and is open to anyone in the United States. The winner will be announced the following Monday.

Now get to “Liking”!

P.S. TJ Maxx didn’t perk me in any way to give away a gift-card. I’m just a big fan.

**This giveaway is now officially closed.***

Rug Obsession.

Today I’m obsessed with rugs. They’re an affordable way to really transform a space. Here are a few I’m loving today…

They can all be found on WestElm.com. Conveniently, I just got a 10% off coupon in the mail. Me + Rug + Coupon = Sold. Now that’s the kind of math I like!
