Make My Day. Or Yours.

I’m about to make your day. How would you like an awesome Black Friday deal that you can use right now from the comfort of your own home?

What? You’d love it. Me too.

Last night just before I went to bed I happened to double check the { RugsUSA website }. I’ve had my eye on a rug for the nursery but wanted to wait until Black Friday to see if I could get it for more than 35% off.

Last night I hit the jackpot. 75% off! I think I scared Justin when I jumped out of bed and ran upstairs mumbling something about a “super sale” and “rug”. Luckily he’s used to this kind of behavior and just rolled over and went to sleep.

Y’all, I got our nursery rug for 75% off!! If you head over there now you can find all kinds of amazing rugs for ridiculous prices just using the code “Black75″.

And in case you were curious, I ordered the Moroccan Trellis Rug in Charcoal. I wanted something a bit more grounded to keep the room from being too, too girly.

We’re almost done with a few of the big nursery projects so hopefully I’ll get to share them next week. Hope y’all have a wonderful Thanksgiving and happy shopping!!

Rugs.

Crickets.

Yep, I know I’ve been MIA for quite a while. I’m smack in the middle of about a million different projects and none of them are in the “photo worthy” stage yet. Bare with me and I’ll share some really fun projects soon. Pinky promise!

In the meantime, remember { this project } that I did? I loooved that rug that we used in the foyer. It used to only come in black and white, but I just found out it’s now available in a few great new colors!

I’m obsessed with this Titanium color…

And the Indigo color…

Check out the additional colors { here }. At $14 a tile, it’s a great option for a “looks custom but the price isn’t” rug.

My favorite kind.

Finders Keepers: Target, Part Two

As promised, here’s part two of Finders Keepers. If you missed part one, you can find it { here }.

Oh Target, you never let me down.

Finders Keepers: Target

First off, thank you guys SO much for all the sweet comments and congrats. We are still shocked that we’re having a girl (we both thought boy), but are beyond excited. In the week since we’ve found out, she already has enough clothes for her entire first year. Yeah, first baby = little crazy.

Anyway, it’s been a while since I’ve done a Finders Keepers so when I was in Target the other day, I snapped a few pictures. They have some GREAT items you can snatch up right now. In fact, there were so many I’m going to break this up into two parts. One today, and one tomorrow. Without further ado, here’s what I found…

(Wait, whoops! I bought a couple pairs of shoes. But, I mean, is there anything cuter than baby shoes?!)

Finders Keepers.

Here’s a glimpse of things I’ve found and loved over the past few weeks…

First up, this bench from TJ Maxx. At $150 it would look fantastic at the base of bed to add a little texture to any room.

Next up, one of my favorite I-Can’t-Afford-Anything-In-There stores, Anthropologie. I loved this cute ceramic egg carton! It would look great on a dresser to organize stud earrings. I can’t remember the exact price, but I’m pretty sure it was under $20.

I also loved these cute ceramic berry containers that were also from Anthropologie. A couple white and yellow ones came this close to coming home with me.

Even though it was on the pricey side, this Anthropologie lamp had me at hello. I believe it was $265, but holy cow was it pretty. I could design an entire girly bedroom just on this one lamp. (Sigh.)

Aaand just to even things out, this lamp from Target was bright, cheerful and on clearance for under $20. Can’t beat that!

There you have it, my finds for the past few weeks. What about you guys? Anyone drooling over something they’ve found?

I Love Lamp. (Again.)

This week I’ve been working on a big project for a client. The final installation is on Saturday so I’ve been trying to find the last few pieces we need to complete the design. One of the main things I’ve been looking for is lamps. My inspiration came from two, rather expensive, lamps. This one from Pottery Barn for $150 (without the shade) and this one from west elm for $150 (with the shade). Pretty pricey, no?

I managed to find two great options at one of my favorite places in the world, Homegoods, that remind me of each of the inspiration lamps. Best part? Each lamp was only $39.99. Heck, yes.

Which one is your favorite?

Oven Lovin’.

Remember when I mentioned last week that I might have a 392743953297 pound oven sitting in my kitchen?

Well, I did. And it really did weigh a million pounds. In fact, it took FOUR people just to get it out of my car and up to the kitchen. Two of those people innocently came over to eat lunch. I might as well warn you now, we make you work for your food at the Smith house.

We hadn’t really planned on replacing the old double oven yet (even though it was 20+ years old and only one of the ovens worked), but when I found this deal there was NO way we could pass it up. I have two words for you, Habitat Restore.

Habitat Restore is a place where people donate building materials and when they’re sold, the proceeds benefit Habitat for Humanity. It’s like a Goodwill that only sells things for the home. In other words, right up my alley. It’s located in Atlanta so I don’t go very often, but I am signed up to get their emails.

A couple weeks ago I got an email with a caption that caught my eye. They had a Kenmore Elite double oven for sale. That’s the exact same line both our dishwasher and refrigerator are from so I was immediately interested. I’d been pricing double ovens for the past few months and even on sale, and on sale some more, they are still at least $1,800-$2,000. When I called the store to ask about the price, I almost dropped the phone when they said it was $554. I very nearly ran to my car and drove straight down to Atlanta, but cooler heads prevailed.

If I waited until the morning and the oven was still there, I could get an extra 20% off due to a special promotion. I’m so glad I waited! I was standing at the front door at 9am sharp and ran straight for the oven. It was even more beautiful in person, but here were two problems,

1) there was no guarantee it would work and if it was returned, we’d only get store credit.

2) it was bigger than the current double oven so we weren’t sure if it would fit.

Taking a leap of faith, I snatched the tag and went up front to pay. It was a bit nerve wracking during the installation, but y’all, it works! And it fits! Hallelujah!

Here’s a reminder of what we started with

And here it is now!

We still need to order a piece of trim for the bottom and re-attach a piece of granite they had to remove above the dishwasher but other than that it’s perfect!

For a grand total of $450 we are now the owner of two beautiful stainless steel double ovens. Heck to the yes.

Morale of the story: you never know what great deal is just around the corner.

What about you guys? Any fun deals lately?

Finders Keepers.

I know, I know. I dropped off the face of the Earth.

To say things have been busy around our house is an understatement. I have lots of fun projects that I’ll hopefully get to share with you guys in the near future, but for now here’s what I found on a recent shopping trip…

Marshall’s, $39.99

Marshall’s, $12.99

Marshall’s, $19.99

Target, $69.99

Priceless.

Juuust Kidding. Wanted to see if you were still reading, hehe.

Patio Update.

This weekend I had a sick husband. Most of my time was spent curled up on the couch with occasional trips to the kitchen to heat up soup or dish out meds. Sounds fun, right? On Sunday I decided to take a quick trip to Target and came back with these babies.

We’ve been wanting adirondack chairs for our patio for a while and at $18 a pop (on sale), these were a pretty affordable option.  They’re comfortable and since they’re plastic, they can easily be hosed down once the pollen fairy comes out in full force.

I still want to get a few throw pillows to add a bit more color, but I think it’s looking pretty dang relaxing just as it is. All I need now is a well husband to help me test them out…

Hope your weekend was more exciting than ours!

Fabric Jackpot.

Yesterday on Twitter I mentioned that I hit the jackpot at a new-to-me fabric store. I didn’t just hit the jackpot, I nailed it.

This store is my new favorite secret place. Like a secret garden, but with fabric for $2/yd.

My own little paradise.

I may have come home with just a few fabrics…

I’ve seen most of these fabrics in stores for $10-20 so even Justin was impressed with my $2/yd purchases. I mean when a guy is impressed, I know I did well. Some of the fabrics will be used in our house, and some are for a fun project down the road.

Almost as much fun as getting great fabrics for cheap is having a secret store to throw into conversation. Poor Justin has no idea just how much this is going to come up in our conversations. I almost feel bad for him.

Justin: “Do you want eggs for dinner?”

Me: “Umm, secret store?”

Justin: “I married an idiot.”

Me: “Duh.”

What about you guys, have you ever found a hidden gem in your city that you wanted to keep to yourself?

P.S. There’s still time to enter the giveaway! I’ll announce the winner on Monday!
